Our Summer Schedule + A Free Printable

This Summer we are going to work on being more intentional with our days by using a Summer Bucket List and also trying to follow different themes for each day of the week. This way we are learning throughout the Summer and having fun while doing so.

I am not one for rigid schedules but I can do themes. Schedules give me anxiety - I need more wiggle room.
That’s why I made this Summer “schedule” fit for themes and open to creativity! For example, it’s the first week of my boys being out of school so I asked them to tell me what they wanted to do for their first Field Trip Tuesday and we were able to creatively plan together. So much more fun! (We landed on a trip to the zoo!)
3 Reasons to Implement A Theme Focused Summer Schedule…
It gives you some predictability, but leaves wiggle room for spontaneous adventures. If you’re anything like me and want room for options - you’ll love having the direction of themes. They make it easy to come up with ideas - but without having to follow a rigid schedule with times and blocks. I mean - it’s Summer! Feel free to get a little more relaxed in your schedules and routines.
The themes are so fun for the kids (and adults, too!) We are going to have a blast following this schedule! Every day we have opportunities for learning AND fun! Plus we are bonding as a family. It’s a win-win!
The kids are actively learning without feeling like they’re in school. Thoughtful Thursday will be Fine Arts and Literature focused, Make it Monday will be a great day for science projects and Field Trip Tuesday could take us on adventures to museums and other learning focused adventures. So many beautiful opportunities for learning!
A Closer Look at The Themes…
Make It Monday
Make it Monday is a day to create something extra special with your kids. This can be anything from arts and crafts to science projects. Maybe you want to teach your kids how to cook this Summer! Mondays can be a day to try making a new recipe with them. You get to decide!
Field Trip Tuesday
Take a trip out of the house! Go to the museum, the zoo, anywhere! This is your chance to get those kids out of the house (preferably after you’ve cleaned it) Yay for finding a way to keep the house clean for a few more hours! Plus a change of scenery is much needed when you’re a momma of littles.
Water Play Wednesday
Go to the water park, the splash pad, play in the sprinklers, make Water balloons! Cool off with your kids and have a great time! This is your opportunity to be a kid too. Go have some fun and enjoy! The memories will be so worth the effort of making it happen.
Thoughtful Thursday
This day is reserved for thought provoking activities. Reading aloud as a family, listening to music and expanding our creativity through fine arts. We are starting Classical education in the fall and have prepared activities for Summer to expose our children to as much literature as we can before homeschool begins. Thoughtful Thursday is the perfect day for more intentional at home learning!
Funday Friday
Friday is for FUN! This is basically a “yes day” (although I may be a little too scared to actually do a real “yes day” lol) A “Funday” is good enough for us! We’ll let the boys brainstorm with us and find activities to do that we know will be extra fun for them.
I can’t wait to see what Summer brings for our family and hope you get to experience many moments of joy and laughter, as well!
