What did you do last summer with your kids? Do you remember? Or was it a total blur?

Sometimes Summer with a bunch of kiddos can feel more like a game of survival. I know I feel that way with my boys, at times.

But I also know it doesn’t have to be that way…

So this year we are getting ahead of the chaos by creating a Summer Bucket List! I’m sure any mom has seen a bucket list before - it isn’t a new idea. To be honest I never really stopped to consider the purpose. It was just some cute printable that ended up on a Pinterest board somewhere in the hundreds of pins I end up with…

However, upon doing some research and diving into the why of a bucket list - I realized it’s actually pretty genius! They say “fail to plan and you plan to fail” and so of course Summer with kiddos applies! When you don’t have any plan or direction to help you make it through the Summer months - it’s kind of just a mess.

At least for me. And I’m sure I’m not alone in that.

We are excited about implementing this pretty little Summer Bucket List that I made for my family and yours! (Just click here to get the printable)

And read below for my 3 reasons for doing a Summer Bucket List this year!

Why have a Summer Bucket List?

  1. To bring calm to the chaos. When you have an idea of where you’re going and what you’re doing, things tend to be more settled. That’s why planning can be so helpful for kids and adults alike. This bucket list makes it easy to see what our options are and plan accordingly.

  2. To make the most of the season. By sitting down and diving into all the things that make Summer so fun, you won’t miss out on anything! When your kids are saying “I’m bored” you’ll actually have a list to refer to for ideas on what to do. This could be your best Summer yet!

  3. To help us track these beautiful family moments. At the end of the summer I want to put together a Summer scrapbook of all the fun things we did. That is why this is listed last on our bucket list. We have a plan and so chances are even if we don’t get every item checked off - we are sure to do a lot and end up with tons of pictures and memories. So now we can be intentional to print out all those photos and make it into an old school scrapbook album filled with all of those fun memories! This is probably what I am MOST excited about!

I hope this post inspires you to use this Summer Bucket List for your family! Feel free to add more to the list and check it off as you go!

Have a blessed and beautiful Summer - from our family to yours!

Stay joyful, Momma!
