Slow Cooker Monster Hot Chocolate
This ultra rich indulgent slow cooker hot chocolate will be a family favorite! We don’t indulge much in sweets in our house so when we do... you can be sure that we go all out! Holidays and birthdays are reserved for treats like this one.
I’ve been making this recipe for years, so it’s become a family tradition.
On Halloween day, right before we go trick or treating, we get our to-go cups and take this hot chocolate along with us. It’s usually cold by the end of October so it helps keep us warm while we walk around and satisfies that inevitable sweet tooth.
Not to mention, it’s SO easy to make!
For this recipe we’re also going to be using heavy whipping cream and whole milk with rich white chocolate to get the creamiest base for our hot chocolate.
If you want to get the most out of this recipe— don’t skimp on the chocolate! There is a reason why we’re using the Ghirardelli white chocolate chips in this recipe. They’re ultra rich!
I’m a sober momma so I go with the alcohol free vanilla. This one is my favorite! I get it at Whole Foods.
Combine everything except the food coloring and toppings into your slow cooker and set to low for 2 hours (or until that chocolate is completely melted) then once it’s cooked you can add food coloring to the desired color.
I went all out on the toppings for this hot chocolate! I wanted to stick with the monster theme so when I saw these candy eyeballs at Target I got super excited! (Sometimes making recipes like this brings out the inner child in me lol) And then I got my chocolate sauce & these mini marshmallows.
And finally…the cute Pinterest-worthy straw!
Of course. We HAVE to have the cute straw. It’s imperative… (I don’t make the rules.)
Ingredients
6 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy whipping cream
14 oz white chocolate chips (I use Ghirardelli)
1 tsp vanilla (I use Simply Organic alcohol free from Whole Foods)
green food coloring, to desired color
Directions
Stir all the ingredients together in your slow cooker except for the green food coloring (you’ll add this when the hot chocolate finishes cooking)
Cover and cook on low for 2 hours or until all he chocolate has completely melted.Add your green food coloring, to the desired color.
Set to warm and get all your toppings out!
To assemble as pictured, top with whipped cream (homemade or store bought), followed by a drizzle of chocolate sauce, eyeball candies (I got mine at Target) and mini marshmallows.
Add a pretty straw and ENJOY!
